Ride Description: SBT & the bike path into Roscoe. Forgot my Camelbak, so I went to Brooklyn Deli for a Dr. Pepper and a hot bowl of chicken dumpling soup.
I tried riding with flat pedals today. I'm not sure if it was the Myopathy in my leg muscles that push down, or the extra 2 inches of snow, but it was much slower than yesterday. I had to use a lot of gears today.
When I was able to get out of the saddle and try to hammer, the bike was awesome. Computer setting 230 |

Since almost everybody runs flat pedals on their Fat Bikes, for the added warmth of non-SPD cycling shoes, and the fact that you're more likely to fall over in the snow, I tried riding with flat pedals today.

Pedaling with SPD cleats, pedals and shoes is much more efficient than flat pedals.
When I was able to get out of the saddle and try to hammer, the bike was fast and handled awesome.

Saw 3 deer, turkey tracks, 3 snowmobiles, a couple dog walkers and another guy on a bike on my ride today!
