 Rainy Day Ride
It rained all day yesterday, all night, and most of the morning, but I decided to give it a shot shortly after noon. It was 50 degrees but the humidity was 88%, so I was struggling to sweat off and stay cool. The roads and trail were very wet and the Reedy River was swollen. I rode through Falls Park as I figured not many walkers would be out with it wet and not warm yet. The Reedy was swelled out of its banks about a quarter mile below the Falls. I rode up the trail to the turn around in TR then back to the southern part of TR and met Cis at Dukes Doggs. I took off my long sleeve t-shirt and left it with Cis, although I wish that I had it on once I started riding again! I had a Nathan's Turkey Dog with turkey chili, mustard and onions with their fries, a small brownie, and a lot of lemonade mixed with water. I had forgot to bring a water bottle, so I loaded up on drinks while there. Plus I could always get water at several places along the trail if I needed it. After I turned off the Trail at Hudson I saw a rider coming up behind me. He passed me climbing the hill up toward TTR, the Main Pot Office, and the Rescue Mission. He looked to be Colombian, much younger and smaller than me, but I decided to see how long I could stay with him without wheel sucking on him. We turned onto Washington together and he beat me to the light, but had to wait for it to turn onto Butler. I chased him to the light at Poinsett Highway and we crossed together to go down that hill. I followed him through the speed humps and onto Park Avenue. I crossed Main Street right behind him and chased him to the light at Stone Avenue and East North Street. I chased him up the steep hill on East North, but when I felt the hill really pulling on me, he stood up and ran away from me. I could see him up ahead on up East North, but would never get close to him again.
