Today I took off from home to ride to the ICAR and get in some hills. I took East North down to Cleveland Park and went south on the trail. I rode it to where it ends at Pleasantburg then scooted over to Parkins Mill and took the hard turn to East Parkins Mill and worked my way to Fairforest. I rode by the processing center where I work, but the crew that I work with got off about 30 minutes before I passed by. I rode Fairforest on south to turn around at Mauldin Road. As I approached Mauldin Road I could see a white pickup behind me that I could hurry to cross the two straight lanes and the two turning lanes to get where I could turn back, but I waited for him to pass me. But as I slowed down it slowed down with me. Finally it was right beside me but not passing until I heard "Hey!" It was my friend Lou. He had worked a little late as a flat sorter was down and now he was headed home. Lou is a bike rider but is a much better rider than I am. But he stopped and we chatted for a little while. Then I turned back on Fairforest to its north end and crossed Laurens Road to the ICAR. There I took the first turn off over to St. Francis Millennium. Every time I ride in the ICAR they are building more buildings over there. There is a lot of room to build, but not near as much as there was 4 years ago. I took the second offshoot that I enjoy. There is an antique tractor place over there. I want to go in and take pictures, but no longer have Uncle Clifford to give me the history of each of them. But I think about him every time I see that place. I rode it the ICAR on to the north end, then back to the south end. From there I followed my previous path back to Cleveland Park and cut through downtown to catch the Trail over to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe. But the weather was in the 70s by then and the trail was swamped with users. I slogged north to the Cafe and went in for an iced tea and an oatberry shortbread. I also bought shorbread for Cis. Since the trail was so crowded I got off at Washington Street and took surface streets the rest of the way home.
