My friend Steve talked me into going on the Hagood Mill Ride today, so that he and I could be at the back and chat. But he got sick and didn't show. I called him as they were leaving and he had left a message on FB that morning, but I had checked FB about an hour before he did. I rode this ride last summer and it about killed me. But I figured that he and I could hang together. I can ride with those guys until we get to the serious climbing and they ride off and leave me. Well this ride was nearly all winding up and winding down. I can make those climbs, but I just can't keep up with the group and I got dropped early. By the time I was in Dacusville (about 10 Miles) I hadn't seen anyone for a while, so I figured that I'd just follow the pink arrows to Hagood Mill. But there was a pink arrow pointing to the left where I was pretty sure that we went straight last summer, so I made a left turn. About 3 miles out I knew that I was lost, but decided to make it an exploring ride. Eventually I saw an unusual building that I knew was within a couple of miles of Greenbrier Farms where I had attended an event last summer. I rode to the farm and some people were there, but they were just exploring the area and thought it was my farm. I talked to them some then turned back for Furman whre I was parked. I was close to the Trail and I called Cis to meet me at Dukes Doggs for lunch. She drove up there but Kristy was swamped today, so we waited for a while for our food. I had a burger since I had a dog yesterday. Then I rode back south to Furman where the truck was parked and drove home.
