Despite a weather forecast of temps in the low to mid 20's, I couldn't pass up my first Mukluk sand ride on the shores of Lake Michigan, south of Sheboygan Wisconsin.

Well, it was actually warmer than predicted, 29°-33°, but also windier than predicted.

A hearty, fun group of 7 fat bike riders, three Pugsley's, two 9:ZERO:7's, one Mukluk and one Schlick Cycles NorthPaw, along with one rider on a "regular" mountain bike, were rewarded with a beautiful day on the beach.

Going south, with a nice 10-15 mph tailwind, I was able to cruise along about 7.5 mph. There were several short, shallow water crossings less than six feet across and 4 inches deep, with one long deep crossing that was at least 12 to 15 inches deep. With the temps below freezing, I really didn't want to get my feet wet, so I used my "one foot ratchet pedal stroke" to make it across the deep water without getting my feet soaked.

Because I'm so slow, and stopped to take a few pictures, I was dropped by the group and decided to turn around after ten miles. I knew they'd catch me on their return, and they did, after they continued 3 or 4 more miles.

The north wind picked up and pummeled us with a 20-25 mph headwind on the trip back to the parking lot.
I was warm and sweating with the wind, and a little cool but comfy going back into the wind, though I was only able to return at a 5 mph pace.

At the post ride meal, I was comforted to hear, I was not the only one that suffered a little.
But, it was a super day to be on a bike.

Here are all of my photos for the day...
