| Weather Conditions: The sky was bloody awful, pollution or what, I couldn't tell. Need some rain to clear it all out. Alas, not a horrible amount of wind. |
| Ride Description: Solo, first up the hill to Flying Squirrel Bridge, and back down. I actually passed a couple riders on the way up. Chatted and rode for a teensy bit with Julie, who had been doing hill intervals and was now on her way to run. Must be getting ready for a tri or biathlon sometime. Went on my way toward the Dadaocheng bike path and whaddya know, back flat tire. Julie and I had just talked about that...she had her first flat yesterday and had to take a cab to the bike shop. Me, I went to the other side of the road near the bike path entrance and proceeded to install a new tube. The culprit was a little tiny sliver of metal...could barely feel it. Finally on the path, fought people, scooters, and dogs until I couldn't stand it anymore...and could go no further on the bike path because parts of it are being torn up to put in water pumping areas...so I turned tail and came home. The best part of today's miserable ride was watching people watch me, a mere white chick, change the tire. The looks on some of their faces were priceless. While this was not an enjoyable ride, I did get in some much needed exercise. |
