Today I was to meet Ken and Steve at Cleveland Park and ride to the pocket park on Sulphur Springs for a magazine photoshoot. Ken dropped out to work on his son's car, so Steve and I headed up the trail to Sulphur Springs. Once there I had no idea what was going on, so I went behind the railroad car to hide in the shade. They finally had us come out and had different ones of us pose in different positions. I was in a group that was listening to a bluegrass band play. They shot some video and took some pix for "Rails to Trails" magazine. While there Don and Elissa showed up. Kimberly was there and Cato was there. I also met a rider named Stan. He was crossing the tracks this morning and another rider cut him off. That caused him to catch the rails and dumped him and skinned up his arm. Steve and I were going to ride to Tubbs Mountain and back into TR, but now I figured that it would be too much sun. Don joined us and we headed up the trail to ride to the north end and back. We weren't setting much of a pace, but we were solving a lot of cycling and other world problems. We stopped at the north end for a drink and another rider was there wearing a University of Arizona jersey. I asked him if he rode around Tucson, but he said that the jersey was on sale at Hincapie sportwear. Steve told him that he had a Tour of Tucson jersey and people always asked if he had ridden it. He hadn't then, but has ridden it 4 times since. We headed back down the trail and I stoppd in Travelers Rest to see if the recently installed fountain was working. The water fountain had no pressure, but the bottle filing section worked fine. That was good to know that there is another water source along the trail. I caught the group just as the Arizona rider peeled off and left us. We stopped at the north end of Furman as Elissa was calling Steve's phone. She was only about 1/2 mile south of us and she rolled in where we were as she finished her call to Steve. We rode down to mid campus and went on campus to see if Starbucks was open. I got a blueberry muffin and an icy peach mint green tea. I bought a Blondie to take home for Cis. Elissa is absolutely crazy and the table conversation was crazy to go along with that. There was a lot of teasing and carrying on especially beween Steve and Elissa. Don is married to Elissa and he is very professional and reserved and she is crazy. They are a funny mix. We rode back to the pocket park and on into Falls Park and Cleveland Park. From there Don and Elissa headed for home, Steve rode to his car, and I headed to East North Street to go home.
