Ken was having a Bike 'N Brew ride today - coffee pot brewing. I drove to the Cafe and parked and rode to the Velo Valet where they were having it. There was a good group showing a variety of bikes. Ken and Mark had their vintage Schwinns and Kimberly had her Peugot. Mark has a large collection of vintage and rare bikes and he had brought 3 or 4 other bikes to display. I saw Steve S's trike, and couple of fatties, and couple of rat rods, and a couple of trial bikes. I had never heard of rial bikes before. I guess there is a small nihe of trial bike riders. There were some mountain bikes and several touring and road bikes. After the bike viewing, 14 of us headed to the trail to ride to Travelers Rest for lunch and back. We riode up to the Up Country Provisions Bakery and Bistro. I had a Travelers sandwich - roast beef with feta cheese, saurkraut and sauce with a pickle spear, potato salad, and a large jelly roll. I downed several glasses of ice cold water as well. Several had cut off or went elsewhere so there were 8 of us riding back. We were just south of Tr when Mark had a blow out on his front. The vintage bike has 27 inch wheels, but they put a 700 mm innertube in it. I had a CO2 cartridge so they filled it up. After it was full they noticed that the sidewall on the tire had a small split in it. Mark was very disappointed since these were new tires. Had we seen that earlier we would have put a dollar bill inside to strengthen the tire wall. But he decided to try to ride and about a mile later it blew out again. He called a friend to come get him and the rest of us headed down the trail.
