After work today I decided to head up the trail. The whole ride was in the 90s, but the trail has a fair amount of shade. So it is a nice ride in the heat. I rode up the trail but the trail is closed between Willard Street and Washington Street. I rode around the the closed section, but also cut over to the center of it to see what was being done. The Bramlett Street crossing of the tracks has been moved and the bridge there has been removed. They built the new trailbed two years ago and since then the kudzu has grown over it. But now the bridge is gone and the new ashphalt has been laid and the warning signs posted. There is still a railroad crossing, but it shouldn't be nearly as hazardous and the trail is straightened out. I also see that they are attempting to straighten out some of the bridge entrances. They were poorly made and have been a hazard from only on.
I rode north to just south of Furman where I ran into Kimberly. We stopped and talked for a while then I headed north again. I rode to the north end of the trial then turned back. I stopped in Travelers Rest at Duke's Doggs I got a turley dog with turkey chili, cheese, mustard and onion. I also had an order of turkey chili cheese fries and some iced Fanta Orange. Once finished I had a serving of Breyers Butter Pecan. Kristy and I discussed Steve - I warned him that his ears should be burning when I was there. Then I headed back down the trail. I ran into Kimberly and Melanie just north of Furman. They were headed to Dukes for a dog. I rode back south then looped around the Y and headed for home.
