| Ride Description: First day of RAGBRAI...alone with 10,000 of my closest friends. Temp was fine, winds were relentless, corn and bean fields on all sides all the way. Iowa folks, of course, are great...hollering out greetings to you as you pass by. Riders...so many of them, fast, slow, and everything in between. Lots of near accidents from cyclists not paying attention. I saw a few bikejournalists along the way, which was nice. Bob sprinted ahead and waited for me at every town, and then we rode into the campsite together at the end of the day. |
