| Weather Conditions: Too much sun and blue sky, wind shifted again so I fought it probably 80% of the ride. Made it a tough ride, but that just makes it all the more sweet. |
| Ride Description: Ok, I had to get an imperial century under my belt just so I could say I did it, but why did I have to do it on a windy 100° day? My fun began by heading over the railroad viaduct, then on to the I80 viaduct, then a right turn on Banner Road. This is the back way to North Platte, with the road going east to west and north. At Brady the road becomes Ft. McPherson Rd., which goes by the military cemetary. Past that it becomes State Farm Road, which then goes all the way to North Platte. Didn't go that far, turned around at about 42 miles. Went back the same way, grabbed a cheeseburger and huge lemonade at the Brady I80 DQ, then continued on. Stopped at the cemetary to fill up water bottles and use the restroom before hitting Brady, and stopped at Banner Methodist Church to fill up water bottles again, and hose myself down with cool water. Still had to ride around town for the last 15 miles, with a stop at the city park at 95 miles for my last rest, water bottle refill, and soaking. Hot ride, windy ride, but I did it!!! |
