| Weather Conditions: Oh my, dastardly hot and humid. Around 90°, with 55% humidity...very heavy air. Cloud cover all morning, very little breeze. |
Ride Description: Solo out to Guandu Circle before meeting the group at 7:00. Got some good speed, 18-20 mph on the causeway. Had to outrun and outsnarl a dog who wanted my ankle for breakfast. Group ride with Karen J., Karen P., Ralph, David (!), Paige, Heather and myself. Headed out to Dadaocheng Wharf, got to our green ramp and couldn't go up. Rolled the bikes up the steps (Karen J. decided not to continue...not feeling all that great) Once we got up to the top of the berm, we were then met with a barrier. Ralph said no problem, we just had to haul the bikes up and over the concrete. Then we had to do the same thing to get to the road. After this, we took our old normal way to the bike path, where not too far away from the wharf David was run off the path by a little girl on a bike. He flatted instantly, so he had to walk to the bike shop, where they had no tubes to replace his. Long story short, a cab was called, we took off his front tire, rolled down both windows, stuffed his bike inside and sent him back to Tienmu. Ralph then turned around and headed back. We couldn't ferry from Dadaocheng as planned because the river was low so the rest of us rode to the fake arches, then came back via our old shortcut up and over the busy bridge. Turned out to be an addventurous day after all.
