I know exactly what kind of idiot goes out in 100 degree heat because I'm one. Maybe it's insanity? Maybe we're English and all the dogs in Tusc. county have had their shots.

I'm being a little more religious about posting my miles. The numbers aren't as high as in other years on accounta I'm racing a little more.
It's nice to see you too, btw.

Strong rider. Always instigating attacks when we are nearing the sprinting stage. He's still getting used to our ways, speed and heat here in South Texas, but it's clear his an animal....helped me fix a flat the other by ripping the tire off with his bare hands....everyone in the group was wtf!!!

Major Dave - I rode with the DCBC today on Century Tuscaloosa, and it's just not the same without you barking orders. Although I live in Birmingham, I've enjoyed riding with DCBC so much that I decided to join the club. Hope all is well for you in Texas.

You would love Australia Major Dave. Why wait until you retire? Phase back into part time (like me) & do it whilst you're physically able to enjoy riding through our vast & beautiful country. It's good to dream (!).

I see you're off to a good start for 2011! I hope to do MUCH better this year than last ... NOT starting the year with an injury that will need surgery should help!!!

Good to hear from you, Major Dave. This has been a rough year in which I have not been able to ride. BUT, I have just this past weekend started riding again and it will be a while until I get my riding style back.

Your lifetime odometer is pretty incredible. I'm a long time runner, formerly at the collegiate level, and a short time (3 years now) biker. Rode a lot as a kid and younger man but left it and came back to it. An Eagle Scout who also got cycling merit badge on a bike that, by today's standards, would be considered quite crude. Have a brother-in-law just retired AF Col and trying to get him interested. Taught AFROTC first year out but that didn't work for him. I work with Frost here; you may know some of my McAllen compadres. Congrats! BankerBiker

Major Dave, I had a blast "hooking" up with you and the rest of the South Texas bunch. Kind of neat when I put the pieces of the puzzle together. I am looking forward to "hooking" up again next year on the Jalapeno 100. cheers--chris

Thanks for your well wishes. I'm getting stronger every day, but expect it will take several months before I am ready to go back on the road. Ride safe =)

Hey Dave, Went to SIU/Carbondale on a crosscountry swim scholarship. Loved riding there and rode my vista bike to Giant City on weekends-rode to class and grocery store -graduated when the bike centennial trail opened in 1976. Son had swim scholarship to Univ of Alabama (transferred after freshman year). I would ride there before a meet with the Druid City Cyclists.. Diane (gapchic)

Just wondering if Rick is for real, that's an awful lot of miles for a cat-5 racer, and the weather hasn't been that good.
