Today 8 of us met at the zoo for Ken’s ride - Ken, Steve S, Bill, Lynda, Sue (a new girl), Michael, (a new guy), Kimberly, and me. We headed north, but Bill and I cut across town while the rest went through the parks. We waited at Linky Stone Park for the others to catch us. Don Y met us while we were there and we rode on up the trail with the group splintering several times. Ken turned into Furman to ride around the lake and he took an unexpected turn that some people didn’t want to do, so the group splintered again. I knew that Bill and Lynda had not done the extra part so while Ken was wondering where they had gone, I went on up the trail. I caught Bill at New Roe Ford Road and we rode together into Travelers Rest. Once we had arrived at the north end of TR, Lynda and Steve were there. We waited there for the rest of the group to come on up the trail. Michael was sturggling to keep up and Kimberly was shepherding him along. Sue lived up there and had already ridden over 35 miles, so she headed home. We rode to McDonalds again after a lot of banter about where to get a coffee. The 8 of us got a drink and snack even though the service there was awful. I had a decaf and a 6 piece nugget. There was a lot more banter about where to get a coffee and snack in the future. We used to go to the Forrest, but they moved to a new location and are now closed on Sundays. The 8 of us headed back down the trail with the sun getting low and the temperate quickly falling. Kimberly was parked at the train trestle so she left us there. Bill was in a hurry to beat the chilly weather so he went off and left us. After Kimberly left I stayed back with Michael. Just north of the Cafe Michael ran off the trail and wrecked. He had some road rash on his hands and knees (he did a 4 point landing on his hands and knees.). Fortunately I was back with him. We caught the others at the Cafe. Don and Lynda were parked there so they left us. From there Ken, Steve, Michael and I rode back to the zoo.
