One of those "...this is a neat place.." finds in Shanghai.
Headed out on the tandem with school mates of Sue's to have brunch and it was one of those:
"Where do you wanna go?"
"I dunno. Where do you wanna go?"
"What are you in the mood for brunch? breakfast?"
"I dunno. What are you in the mood for?"
"Wanna do American breakfast or dumplings?"
"I dunno. What do you want? Breakfast or dumplings"
Finally Mark says: "I want to go to Taicang Lu. Lots of restaurants there."
Maybe next time we simply ask Mark: "Where do you wanna go?"
This is an old area in Shanghai and I've got to go back on a much warmer day to get more of the history and photos. This can be considered either a tourist area or an attempt to keep an older part of Shanghai from being flattened by the bulldozers and replaced with some spanking new skyscraper.
The area is a group of back alleys where numerous art shops, gift shops, and boutique restaurants have sprung up much like wildflowers amongst the weeds.
Only had time for a quick breakfast and a walk down a few alleys as it was bitter cold and the better half had a bunch of work to do.
So what do I wanna do? I wanna go back...that I do know.
You don't see tandems in Shanghai,so yes we got many, many looks, thumbs up and a bunch of Huh Hao (Very Good) comments. Plus what's nice about the tandem is we can toodle along at a good 12 to 14 mph and my better half doesn't feel like she's working, but she is. Left Click To Enlarge In Separate Window
