 Geocache Biking
Discovered geocaching which is a nice way to discover areas, places, locations I might not ordinarily bike to. Gets me off the proven path.

Geoaching can best be explained right heah: www.geocaching.com/about/ Simply geocaching is an adult or not treasure hunt where folks create a cache, you find it, log you found it or not.

Twas a cyclist who got me interested in this. Her "geocache" name is LtlTree and on our last annual Team Lighthouse sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/TeamLighthouse/ bike tour she was also geocaching. Got back to China and read about it. Gee, wonder if there are any geocaches in Shanghai, China. Sure enough, geocaching is a world wide event.

Ah one caveat: You do need at least a basic GPS unit. My first GPS unit was a Garmin Forerunner 101 which I bought on Ebay for about $70. Since then I've purchased a Garmin Vista Hcx and am loving it. The GPS has supplemented my cycloputer oops..the cycloputer now supplements the GPS.

GPS in hand, waypoint to find, and I'm off to hop on my bike and find another (well..hopefully find ) geocache. Have no idea where I'm going. I simply download the geocache coordinates, tell the GPS to get me there, and let it calculate the roads I'm going to follow.

Adventures abound.........and treasures to be found....
