 RAAM Loses A Good Guy
I've followed RAAM over the years cheering on friends and strangers.

This is reprinted from the RAAM website. Click on the link at the bottom. I felt like he did at the end of his CAM ride. I think it's raining inside.

Kurt Eisentraut 1940-2008Kurt Eisentraut, one of RAAM’s long serving race officials passed away suddenly on December 6th, 2008. All of us at RAAM’s headquarters are deeply sadden by this loss. Kurt was a gem; you only had to stand in his presence, to feel his goodwill, enthusiasm and the faith that exuded from him. He came from a place in time where all new associates were immediately granted the position of friend and he was your friend. He was genuine and always quick to smile and laugh.

He worked hard, wanting to make sure that he did his job well, often driving long sections of the course before the race.

Beyond RAAM, Kurt tried his hand at a lot of different things, studied German, practiced Opera singing and when they didn’t work out as he intended, he smiled and laughed and tried something else. Kurt never quit exploring and trying new things. He spent a lifetime seeking new paths while simultaneously searching the past to discover his family roots. So amiable was Kurt, that when his search for relatives often turned up nothing more than people with the same last name, it didn’t make any difference to him, he just befriended whoever he found.

The RAAM community will greatly miss this generous, caring and enthusiastic man. We offer our sincere and humble condolences to his family and friends. May they find strength in their support of each other.
