Weather Conditions: Partly Sunny. 25° when I started. 33° when I finished.
Ride Description: Perfect conditions. I even found some snowmobile trail through and around a corn field, and some tractor tire singletrack in Roland Olson Forest Preserve.

The LPT finally got some snowmobile traffic on it, and was a blast to ride because of the firm frozen snow drifts. It was like a roller coaster in spots. Way fun. East of Caledonia Road the conditions started to soften up a bit.

It was 41° when I got home, but the trails remained pretty firm the whole ride. I was surprised.

With a forecast, starting today, of temperatures in the mid and upper 30's, to low 50's for the next ten days, I thought I'd get out early and get in some good snow riding before it all melts or turns to ice.

And the conditions were perfect!

And not only perfect, but fun! The Long Prairie Trail finally got some snowmobile traffic to pack down the soft deep snow, and the frozen snow drifts made it a roller coaster ride. Way Fun.

I was expecting things to be a little soft, but I got out early enough, when it was still 25°. But even when it got up to 33°, the snow stayed firm and ridable.

I even found a snowmobile trail that left the Stone Bridge Trail and went into and around a corn field, that was a lot of fun to ride.

Then I found a trail made by a tractor/truck that drove thru a Roland Olson Forest Preserve field, that was a blast to ride in. It was about 15 to 20 inches wide, and 12 to 15 inches deep, with a hard crusty base. Kinda like a reverse singletrack, or a luge run with soft walls. It was soft and deep out of the groove.
