I went riding tonight after work with Erica. I invited Meghan but she was tied up with a newborn kitten. We met at a parking lot off of Hudson Street and got right onto the trail. We rode north and saw a bad bike wreck just south of the pocket park. A group of 4 lightweight teenagers or early 20s went flying by us, when one on the right hand-side suddenly made a hard left-hand turn and clipped a giel’s front wheel. She landed very hard and was gasping for air while we were there. She had a fair amount of roadrash as well. Erica and I rode on north to Furman where I called Cis and told her to meet us in about 40 minutes at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe for pizza. We rode back south and stopped at the pocket park where the wrecked crew were still sitting. I stopped and chatted for a few seconds, then we rode the rest of the way to the parking lot. We packed the bikes and drove to the Cafe for pizza. The pizza shop is outside and it was packed. I saw Sam from church in line and talked with him. We ordered a Margarhetta Pizza and a Loaded Potato Pizza with pull apart cheesy bread and Dark Cherry soft drinks. We sat with another couple and chatted about a lot of different things with them. I think that Erica had a good time riding and Cis had a good time talking.
Today is also one year since my wreck while riding to work. It has really curtailed my riding this year, but I hope to come back from it.
