Today I drove to Easley to meet Ken, Don H, and Don Y to ride the Doodle Trail. We met at the Easley Trailhead and rode the trail into downtown Easley, where we turned around and headed toward Pickens. While there Don Y pointed out the rail that is stuck in a tree. We also found several Confederate graves in a cemetery that the trail goes through. Confederate soldiers’ graves are marked with iron crosses. Don Y was raised in Easley so we also learned some of its history while there. We followed the trail to Pickens and left the trailhead there and rode to the Coyote Coffee Cafe. I had a triple salad (choice of 3 from chicken salad, fruit salad, pasta salad, vegetable salad, and grape salad) - I had the chicken, vegetable, and fresh fruit salads with a glass of cold water. I also bought a bear claw to bring home for Cis. We sat there and talked for a long time, then we headed back down the trail. The ride back was much nicer as the wind was behind us instead of in our faces. We rode back into downtown Easley then to the trailhead where the others left. I rode back out the trail to get enough miles for a quater and turned around at Ladd and Hope’s place.
