I rode from the house toward the park to take the southern route to Petco. I took my regular route except the trail was closed at Faris and Cleveland so I had to take Cleveland for a while. I rode on to Petco and we had a new cat Penelope there. She was very shy and didn’t want to play or be handled. I tried brushing her, but she was afraid. It looked like she had just been set up in her cage, so I tidied up and put her back in. I bought several cans of cat food and a 16 pound tub of kitty litter. Then I went next door to REI as I forgot to wear a headband and the sweat was burning my eyes. I bought a headband and a pair of socks. With all that stuff in the pannier the bike wanted to stand on end when I didn’t have my weight on it.
I looped around back to Carolina Point Parkway and took Old Sulphur Springs over to Verdae where I picked up the new trail along Verdae. I took it back to my work route, but I detoured below the bowling alley to miss the closure at Faris and Cleveland. I cut through Greenville Tech and took Faris back to the trail. I followed it back to Cleveland Park, but headed toward Falls Park to get my miles. I turned around above the Falls at Papi’s Taco and rode home how I normally would. I could really feel the weight in the pannier while climbing the big hills.
