I rode the Surly from home today and took East North Street to Cleveland Park. I cut across town and went around the post office getting to Hampton Avenue, across the bridge, and out the Orange Line to Old Buncombe Road. I took it to the Lakeview spur and took that back to the trail. I followed the trail to Furman and took a loop around campus. The campus is covered with admission activity and cars are everywhere. Once back on the trail, I went to the north end and took a picture of the plaque on the bench at the north end. I saw Ken when I was entering Travelers Rest and he was headed south. I rode back to the TRee House and had a BLT Salad and a decaf au lait. I talked with Gene, Kristen, and Ragan. From there I rode back down the trail. I saw a fire truck on Cedar Lane right by the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Kevin's Deputy Motorcycle was under the underpass underneath Cedar Lane. There was an ambulance in the parking lot and a Rescue ATV in the lot. I'm guessing that somebody wrecked into the rip rap under the bridge, but that is only a guess. I rode on down the trail. In Cleveland Park I stopped to see a new sidewalk and bench with a large stone and a plaque for some kind of recipients. Then I took Washington from the zoo and climbed Hillside to get home.
