After the fiasco of a rain last night and waking up at 2:30 when the power came back on I was up early this morning to meet Steve and ride to the Cafe to ride with the Swamp ROMP. I rode to Overbrook to meet Steve and stopped short to put a manhole cover back in the manhole. There is a lot of damamge from the storm with downed trees and limbs everywere. A house on East North Street lost most of their front porch to a tree coming down. Riding on East North was a challange since the sharrows and the bike lanes are packed with tree debris. Cleveland Park was covered with debris and the southern part of the trail was completely covered up. There was a tree down across the trail about 100 yards short of Brammlett. There were 8 of us that rode today - Alice, Joe, Seneca, Kathy, James, Karen and George, and me. As we rode north the trail was in much better shape. We spread ut and regrouped as we normally do. The trail was very busy today. Karen and George broke away in TR to do some banking and check the mailbox. The rest of us rode north to the Sunoco Station and James wanted to go to the end of the trail, so I rode on out with him. We regrouped behind the Sunoco and headed back south. Karen and I stopped in TR so that I could get her number to text them where we were going to eat. George and I had a good opportunity to chat going south. We stopped at Furman and Joe decided that we'd eat at Barley's today. George nd Karen cut off at Sulphur Springs and we kept going south. Once we were at the Cafe Kathy decided to drive to town, Seneca and ALice both decided to go home. That left Joe, James and me to ride into town. We rode in. locked up the bikes, and got a place inside. Downtown is closed for Labor Day, but surprisingly Barley's was nearly empty. I had sweet tea and a 8" Italian Sausage with pickled onions and peppers and mozzarella. After a good time of chatting and eating I headed from town to Park Avenue and on home.
