Today was the Campbell's Covered Bridge Ride. The ride had 2 options - a 23 and a 50 mile options in North Greenville County. I was there nearly 2 hours early to help with the set-up and then manned the pre-registered table. Once the ride started we broke down the set-up and prepared for the BBQ that was being served after the ride. The ride proceeds went to the Momentum Riding Club for underprivileged kids. Several kids from the group rode - most the 23 mile option but some on the 50 mile option. If you've ever ridden in North Greenville it is very up and down. They didn't put in any of the killer climbs, but the entire ride was up and down. After the breakdown was finished a small group of us set out to do the short ride, but I rode with EClare that could only ride about 8 mph. I found that climbing at that pace was very tiring and I was really pooped out by the time we were at the Bridge. Her husband Don was at the bridge and he rode back with her while I rode in with Steve that rode more my pace. But I was really whipped after standing at my table for over an hour then riding at that pace. Mike and Jeff's served a BBQ lunch and it was good as always. Mike and Jeff's is a real hole-in-the-wall, but Jeff makes some good BBQ.
