 Wind Tsunami

Steady Southerly winds, and a broad, beautiful Rainbow, giving way to darkly ominous overcast, and a tsunami like gale. Started the ride at 8:15am. The wind shift hit around 9am. At that time I was traveling South on Hubbell

I was traveling South when the Westerly gale struck. I could hear the howl of wind in a pine stand 1/2 mile West of Hubbell Road several seconds before the wind hit me.

It came with such a sudden force I was nearly knocked off the bike. During the initial effort to maintain control, the wind was so sudden and forceful that I was blown across the road. My helmet was pushed askew by the sudden force of the wind.

When the "big blow" hit, I was passing an open field that had recently been harvested of corn. Chaff/husks from the corn harvest knotted itself around my spokes and rear dérailleur, as I pedaled -downright, out of a movie "spooky".

I was glad to be on the Globe but wonder if the heavier recumbent would have been more manueverable.

I'm used to seeing riders from more pleasant climes passing me in the BJ standings, so I was curious when I saw you ahead of me since your location was in NY. Very interesting blogs and impressive consecutive riding days earlier this month!
One suggestion I'll pass on, you can turn off the "ride description" in your blog set-up, since it automatically enters this information in as your blog entry. By checking the box, your ride description shows up twice in each entry. It is confusing and I did the same thing myself at first.
