Observation and Perspective

The 126.38 miles and 16:40:15 hours for the month is on the outset, pathetic when compared to last year. I have worked more and exercised more with "snow shovel activity". January has been an exhausting month of daily snowfall! I did manage one work commute for the month. And I bought a Dahon Cadenza folding bike.
As for the Cadenza, I've had only one ride(8.4 miles Jan. 23rd) to date. Fender installation looks great. I have a new Brooks saddle ready to go but will wait on the install.
Taking several hours today fitting an E3 F11C cycle computer for the Cadenza, installation was a success.
The computer had a price point that caught my attention, $16.99. I have had a reasonably positive experience with previous E3 components. Additionally, the cadence feature is not generally available at this price point and will be useful for training. One draw back seems to be that the cyclometer does not calculate "avg cadence", Oh well.
The packaging on the F11C notes the "wired speed and cadence read from rear wheel-perfect for use on indoor trainers". Hopefully the device will be durable enough for outdoor use. The cabling/wire is a rather light gage, but for the cost-vs-features, it looks like an excellent value. I have reinforced all the wire connections with silicone caulk. The features of the F11C rival the other cyclomters used on my other bikes. In addition to Cadence, the F11C can calculate approximate caloric expenditure.
Come on February, bring us Winters "dry heaves", anything but more snow!
