The 2009 "Leaf Peeper" tour to Letchworth state park.

The tour is the brainchild of brucew, defined and routed by hndlebar. Since the inception of the Letchworth Columbus Day ride I have wanted to retrace the route I made with Leo and Greg, back in 1979. The route we took way back then was principally on Route 36. So last night I drew up this route as an alternate to the two routes set by hndlebar. The main difference with my route is length. My route is shorter, more direct.

I arrived at Johnson Park at 8:05 this morning. There were 5 other riders already there. I recognized cog51 and hndlebar, and maybe jpgrams was there. I did not recognize the other two guys. I had talked with Bruce last night and he was not going on the ride due to illness.

Everyone seemed well occupied with their ride preparations. Hndlebar requested I sign the RBC waiver. I wasn't exactly sure the need to do so, seeing as I was going on an unsupported solo ride. If it makes someone happy to have my name on their list...It's O.K. with me!

Seeing that everyone was going on the hndlebar route, I wished a safe journey to all and immediately started my ride. I arrived at the North Entrance to the Letchworth State park a little past 11AM.

All my organized ride participation this year have been "solo" efforts. For various reasons, I do not blend well in most ride groups. Pictures and two short videos will be on my blog.

249 consecutive cycling days (includes 5 indoor ride days); Let the Good Times Roll!
