 Addressing issues of Arrogance
It was another epic "Leaf Peeper" ride.
But issues with an overaggressive personality are hereby addressed.

During the return ride, I had fallen a 1/4-1/2 mile behind the other three riders. It was at a point of a steady headwind about 60 miles into the trip. Mike(hndlebar) came back to taunt me I guess. I suggested he pull lead and allow me to draft, to catch-up with Michelle and Bruce. When I couldn't stay on his wheel because of his unsteady pace, I asked him to hold his speed steady at 17-19MPH. Problem was he kept over-accelerating beyond my ability to follow. Ignorance or arrogance or whatever, his subsequent Blog comments were inaccurate and insulting.

I published these comments originally in a hndlebar blog report, comment section, in response to his 10.13.08 blog. These comments were subsequently stricken from his blog report. For posterity and perspective I have republished them here:

"Personal observation here: Mike has made the biggest gains in his biking technique of anyone I have known this past year. As I have stated previously, he has shared his perspective on technique and I find that personality trait to be excellent!

On matters of observation and assessment of other cyclists abilities, be it published or candid verbal comment, Mike unfortunately expresses his observations in an inaccurate, offensive and insulting manner. Worse, is the inaccuracy of those perspectives.

Another way Mike would be a better riding partner would be if he could take a little direction with regard to certain team riding techniques, pace-line and drafting in particular. Having made some remarks to me about my cycling technique with regard to drafting. It was obvious to me that his perspective on the proper technique was incorrect, as was his technique for "pulling the line". On the day of our ride there was a complete unwillingness to admit any need on his part for improving his technique in pulling the line. It was a minor point I was making that certainly had validity but seems to somehow have become a point of contention and a clash of personalities.

That's fine if you're a "go it alone" biker which I'd guess up to this point in our mutual cycling endeavors has been the case. But it does not bode well for future rides together to have this unresolved clash of ego-maniacal personality."

Additionally I have excerpted hndlebars blog comments and made a point by point rebuttal, published on my Oct.15th 2008 Blog report. As always, comment is welcome here...
