The ride home was typical for a blustery Fall afternoon: 48 degrees and a 14 mph Westerly wind. Travelling on the EG Zurich ebike, pedaling with a medium effort and a medium assist level, I was doing 13 mph. With such a strong WSW wind, I was conserving the battery for a faster speed up on the Ridge. At a point just north of Burritt Rd., heading South on C-P.T.L.Rd., rocking the bike with each pedal stroke when "snap-crunch" the rocking became more pronounced as the seat gave-way. Broke the Brooks Special edition B17 saddle. Ginny came to my rescue quickly with the Outback.
My favorite bike saddle is kaput. True, it has lasted for many thousands of miles -first on the Bianchi Castro Valley, then on the Specialized Globe, and finally these last few thousand miles on the EG Zurich.
Since 2008, that Brooks saddle has seen more than 15,000 miles and 1500 hours of use on the 3 bikes it's been used on.
