 DSP instructing
I have been involved in driver safety training for the past 2 years as an AARP Driver Safety Program Instructor. Glad to have had the experience, but ready to pass the mantle of volunteer on to another candidate. It has been a wonderful opportunity being able to present "driver safety" from my perspective as a multi-mode road user.

Today's class was comprised of a diverse and interesting group. Included in the group of 23 was a good friend Al. Also in the class were three retired school teachers, a retired School Bus Driver, an active School Bus Driver, a retired Gynecologist and his wife who raised 10 children ("He practices what he preaches!" -said Terry, the wife). Two retired Nuns (Sisters who were Sisters), a Motorcycle touring couple, a couple of numismatists, a couple of chess players, Sam -a friend of my father, a wife with knitting needles who filled out the program tests lightning quick while crafting some future present, a snack food distributor, and an insurance sales rep. rounded out the diverse group.

The range of age within the group was 51 to 92! The 92 year old was a very spry guy who walked into class using two "Alpine style" walking sticks. This diverse group was loaded with wisdom and perspective. Overall, this is the most actively participating class I have conducted.

During a 10 minute break the Gynecologists came to me and mentioned he noticed MY pronounced "Scoliosis". I had never had my posture diagnosed before. As "Charlie" remarked about the condition, we shared sympathies. His Scoliosis condition has been developing due to a degenerative joint condition too.

Getting older means learning to compensate for inevitable change and increasing limitations...
