A midday commute with Jerry V., and a stop at Hamlin Beach State Park. Jerry met up at the Bus Garage after my morning transportation activities.
Along with the destination to Hamlin Beach State Park, we made a tour of the ongoing excavation at CCC Camp S.P.53/Hamlin P.O.W Camp. The P.O.W. Camp was de-activated about 1946. Two volunteers were working the site removing tree stumps.
Another marvel of interest during my visit to the site, was evidence of Beaver activity. Several trees were cut down and trimmed "Beaver style" -quite remarkable! However their activity is considered more a pest at the park due to creek and pond flooding.
70 days until years end, with 810 miles short of my goal for 2012, -it is beginning to look like a far-fetched goal.
