Today I headed out to ride up the trail and ride over Tubb's Mountain. I rode to the park to see if any of my buddies would be going along with me. At the zoo parking lot a car pulled up and rolled down the window. It was Sheryl A, a former friend of Cis's. We talked for a while and caught up on what's' going on with who. I saw that none of my buddies were there so I headed up the trail. The ride north was fairly uneventful. I did ride through the Furman campus to see what they have been building around the baseball field. The field beyond the right field fence has been converted to a practice field for the soccer teams. The field has been reworked with very quality turf, stadium lights, and more work being done along the field. Down the 3rd base line is the south end of the soccer field and they have built a two story field house. So they have been busy with construction since baseball season finished. From there I rode on up the trail and got off at Duncan Road to make my way to Tubbs Mountain. When I turned onto White Horse Road Extension a large pit bull was harassing the dogs that were inside the fence there and he took off after me. I took off down the hill and he outran me and got in front of me. I yelled at him and swerved around him, but he ran out and got in front of me again. I yelled at him again and swerved to get around him once more, then he gave up and turned back. He turned back just in time as I ran out of downhill and lost all my speed when I hit the hill. He ran hard for a long time and he was probably pretty pooped out. I was just glad that he stopped. I climbed the hill and turned onto Tubbs Mountain. I climbed the mountain and headed back to TR. I stopped at Duke's to say "Hey!" to Kristy. Errol, Kimberly's boyfriend was there. Kristy and I are still laughing about me waving to that girl thinking it was her. Errol and I talked for a bit and I headed down the trail. I rode on down to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and stopped in for a treat. I bought a slice of bourbon pecan pie and a cup of hot apple cider. That pie may be the best pie that I have ever had. I bought a second piece to take home for Cis and it is sheer luck that piece made it home!! I had just finished the pie and was sipping the cider when my riding friend Mark came in. We talked for a good while and a freind of his came in and we all talked. Mark and I discussed selling me a Salsa Vaya that he has. Once I was on Laurens Road an old woman was creating havoc in the six lanes of rush hour traffic. I pull onto Laurens from a side street and work my way through traffic. But this woman was in the right hand lane trying to make a u-turn across 6 lanes of traffic. Those two blocks of my ride are hazardous enough without crazy old ladies. She finally got across in the same gap that I got out in. Then she stopped at the green light for a while. Once she crossed the intersection she came up and buzzed me then changed lanes and stopped about 6 car lengths back from the intersection to make a left hand turn from the center lane. The other drivers were really laying on the horns trying to get the old bat out of the way! The rest of the ride was uneventful, except I was unsuccessful at talking Cis out of her slice of pie!! This ride also pushed my Eddington number to 36. Now I can start on 37!
