 Bar-End Ride
I was a little nervous about riding today as I had the bar-end shofter installed on the rear derrailleur. I got on it and nothing seemed to work right on it. Then I figured out the up is down and down is up on that side. That made the shifting make sense, but it was shifting horribly. I rode from the house and onto the trail. As I headed up the trail that shifting was very erratic, so I turned back to ride to TTR and have them adjust the rear shifter. On my way back Mark called and told me that he was at the park. I told him to meet me at TTR. I rode back there and JJ put it on the rack and adjusted teh barrel adjuster on the rear cable. Apparently when they set up the shifter that the cable must stretch when it is working under a load. It seem slike every time they set up the shifter that I have to take it back after the first ride. JJ set it up and it worked fine after that. Mark pulled up as I was about to leave. Mark said that Ken would be at the park at 1:45, so I told him that we should ride back as it would be about 1:45 by the time we were back at the park. We rode back there but Ken was just leaving home and would be down in a few minutes. Mark brought his Salsa Vaya for me to ride, so I tried it out then. The bike was way out of adjustment for me, but it is a nice bike. We moved the seat up to fit me and I rode it about a mile or so. Ken came and we headed up the trail. The ride was a stop and see ride with a lot of conversation. Mark and Ken both buy and sell bikes, so there was a lot of discussion about rare bikes on the market and good deals on the market. They like to buy bikes on Craigslist or other places, fix them up then sell them on eBay.

We turned back across from Sunrift in TR and as soon as we headed south I got a call from Cis after her unfortunate visit to the dentist. Mark and KEn had stopped at the Whistle Stop Cafe as a woman was working on the outside wall mural there. I thought that it was finished last Spring, but she is slowly changing it and adding things to it. They were having a good chat with her about it. We took off after that and rode down the trail. We stopped at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and talked with Officer Mike. I told Ken and Mark that I was going in for a snack and they headed on down the trail. I stopped and had a slice of Chocolate Chess pie and a cup of heated muscadine juice. I also bought a slice of pie for Cis. On the ride home I ran into Steve S and asked if he was planning to ride with us to Soapstine Church on Saturday. He's planning to go to a Clemson football game. Today is probably the last day of 70 degree weather for some time, so it was good to make the most of it.
