 Kind of Crazy Ride
Today was Ken's normal Sunday afternoon ride. I left the house and was about a mile out on East North Street when a car came by and the people were yelling out the window. I figured that can't be good. But they kept yelling "How do you get to Bon Secours Wellness Arena?" I shouted to drive to the light, take a left, then take a right before the Interstate, and it will be about 2 blocks. I worry about conversing with drivers! There's not much good can come from it.

I stopped by the zoo and Susan was waiting to ride today. Susan has been a normal rider, but this year she has been dealing with elderly parent issues. She teaches high school, babysits her grandkids, takes on a lot of extra curricular activities at school, and has been dealing with failing parent issues. So she hasn't had time to ride much this year. Three-wheeled Steve was there, then Ken showed up, and Kristy from Duke's Doggs was there. We took off and worked our way up the trail. When we passed the parking lot at Cross-Fit Trainers somebody yelled that he was late but would catch us. I turned back to see who it was. It was an older rider named Paul. I stopped for a minute, but told him that I was going to go on to catch the group. They were waiting at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe then we waited until Paul got there. The six of us rode on up the trail and stopped at the Forest, my friend Steve was there to meet us and his friend Tom. I had a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. We talked for a long time.

Once we were ready to leave Paul was taking a while to get ready. The group took off while he was getting ready, so I hung back from the group to let him catch up. I soft pedaled for quite a while and could never see him coming up behind us. Finally I stopped and waited, but he never came. So I turned back and rode to the Forest and he wasn't there or along that part of the trail. I called Ken to see if Paul had passed me somewhere and was back with the group, but he wasn't. By then I was several miles behind the group. I rode back down the trail and Paul's car was still parked by Cross-Fit Training. I called Steve to see if Paul had hitched a ride with him or Tom, but hey hadn't seen him either. I rode on down the trail, but it was dark by the time I was back at the park. I have enough lights on the bike to ride home in the dark, but it was pretty chilly by then, so I called Cis to come get me at the park. What an odd ride!
