Today I took the Trek to Cleveland Park to meet for Ken’s Sunday Ride. Six of met at the zoo - Ken, Steve S, Sarah, her friend Carlton, Keith, and me. We took off up the trail. Foot traffic along the parks was very heavy and a challenge to get through. We picked up Lynda and Don Y somewhere above Falls Park. Once we were out on the trail Sarah was setting a 16 to 17 mph pace. That’s about as fast a pace as I can hold, but Don, Lynda, and I were separated from the group at the Blue Ridge crossing. The first 5 made it across while the rest of us were caught by traffic. Don stopped to talk to some guys on recumbents while Lynda and I rode together up the trail. I turned onto the Furman campus to circle the lake while Lynda rode straight up the trail. After I looped the lake and was on the trail Steve passed me. I rode on to across from the creperie where I turned around. Once I was at the TreeHouse Steve Don and Lynda were there, but the rest of the group hadn’t arrived yet. I got a cup of decaf, a fruit cup, and a glass of water. We sat and talked a bit when the rest of the group came in. Somewhere they had picked up another rider Mary.
They swapped stories for a few minutes when Don and Lynda and I got up and left. I passed a group of slower riders outside of TR and never saw Don or Lynda again. I hustled on down the trail for a pretty good ride.
