The first work commute in some period of time(since Nov. 14th).
Pleasant enough in bound in the early afternoon (41°F).
The ride home from work was an event! The 5pm commute was a combination of 34°F, high speed road-spray, oncoming headlight glare, and rain mixed with frozen rain which accumulated to coat the roads with a thin layer of slush. The frozen rain was stinging a bit.
Halfway through the ride I felt good! The ride was challenging but doable and happening at a good steady pace. No problem! At that point, I was being passed with "frequency" by motor vehicle traffic doing about 50mph on Clarckson-Parma Town Line Road.
One very thoughtful individual (a complete stranger) stopped his truck on on the road, opened his door, stepped out, and offered to give me and my bike a ride home! I thanked him with grateful profuse as I pedaled around him! The race was on to beat Ginny home, so as not to worry her about my being out in the element>>>>>>>>>>>&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&<<<<<<<<<<<<
The combination of "on-coming" traffic and traffic overtaking me from behind was creating several instances of "3 abreast passing". "3 abreast" situations are a direct result of improper timing of passing maneuvers by the overtaking vehicle. Generally caused by a lack of patience and an abundance of disregard for the cyclist (or other slower traffic) and disregard for the oncoming traffic. I have witnessed on several occasions, oncoming traffic has driven off the road or stopped ahead in order to accommodate or avoid a "3 abreast" situation caused by the vehicle overtaking slower traffic in the opposite lane!
