This ride takes me beyond 6000 miles for the year! Firmed up the Serfas CTR Drifter City Tires w/70lbs of air pressure, but the ride is still more "tedious" than it was with the Fast City ST/K tires.
Yesterday, I ordered a set of ST Cross/K 26x1.25 tires -essentially similar to Performance Fast City ST/K, 26 x 1.25, the 4000+ mile tires I just retired. It's the same tire that I recently installed on the Globe Hybrid. I have been happy with those tires.
This has been the month for tires!I have acquired a bit more understaning of tire performance. I know what works in a tire for speed and reliability. And at the same time, I have gained an understanding about price and quality. Additionally, understanding that a great tire available today will have a different name and price in the future. Top dollar does not often equal "superior quality"! That is to say that a $10 tire can be equal or superior to a $50 tire.
What to look for in a quality bike tire will be addressed in a follow-up blog...
I will keep the Serfas tires on the Cruzbike for the Winter and change over to the ST Cross/K's in the Spring.
