After stopping to vote, and cajoling/extolling poll workers on the wonderful day for biking, upon leaving the polling place I flatted within 1/4 mile. Seeing the shortness of time until my start for the afternoon bus run, I called the bus depot for a "bail-out." Phoning work, Jason, one of Hilton Central's finest mechanics was sent out to retrieve me and the bike. While awaiting rescue, I removed the damaged tube and had installed a new tube when Jason showed up. At 1:45 PM we loaded the bike in the truck for the 5.58 mile trip to the bus depot.
Where I had flatted on Union Street was a near perfect spot to effect a repair, but time was too short to complete the task and finish the commute. I needed to be on a bus and on my way by 2PM for the bus ride to Kearney.
After the bus run, I finished the repair at the depot in about 10 minutes, then biked home. 94.5 “bike commute” days YTD total commuter miles YTD: 1706.78+/- 95.5 round trip work commutes (includes “multiple round trip” days);
