I suppose it was a good commute;
Knees feel good in spite of the "no supplements" week before surgery rule. And in light of the fact I'm scheduled for TKR surgery on Monday, one could imagine I shouldn't have this level of function. Riding a bike is more low-impact than a walk. It is my overall lack of mobility that tells the tale.
Walking, standing, and negotiating stairs are painful and problematic. The past 3 years have brought 4 incidents of knee wrenching dislocation/sprains, doing routine things like getting out of bed.
Both knees are equally failing me at this point. Actually I am more in balance right now than in the past several years. I had favored my right side and had actually atrophied a bit. I had been favoring the right knee until the last sprain on my left knee evened things up a bit...
Any way it was a pleasant pain free bike experience commuting in to work this afternoon! Seems like most folks have no concept of the minimal impact cycling has on the knees. Walking is tougher! 123 "C4 days"
