I replaced my Specialized Speedzone Comp Cyclocomputer today.
I had installed the device on my Globe way back in January 2005. I think the Cyclocomputer device cost around $30. With 11 functions, the device included a half crappy analog clock. The analog feature showed time in 5 minute increments!? Overall, it never performed reliably.
On a couple of occasions I dropped the device from a height of 4 feet and had to reset the wheel specs -very annoying. The buttons would stick sometimes too, making it difficult to access the functions or reset the trip odometer. I've had to pry the device open and re-close it with tape, duct/duck tape one time and electrical tape on another instance. This last situation where the buttons were stuck was my final go round with this device. After being unable to reset my mileage and ride time I decided to replace it.
So today, I Installed a new "cyclo'puter". Actually it is not a recent purchase. I bought this 12 function Schwinn cyclocomputer about 15 months ago. I wanted a back-up for the above mentioned piece of crap. I already use Schwinn Cyclocomp's on two of my bikes. They are very inexpensive, simple, and reliable devices.
Of course Schwinn is not considered the "premium brand" that it once was -you can buy their products at Walmart. But it is the superior brand when it comes to basic cyclocomputers. I recommend it highly!
