 Wind Tsunami

Steady Southerly winds, and a broad, beautiful Rainbow, giving way to darkly ominous overcast, and a tsunami like gale. Started the ride at 8:15am. The wind shift hit around 9am. At that time I was traveling South on Hubbell

I was traveling South when the Westerly gale struck. I could hear the howl of wind in a pine stand 1/2 mile West of Hubbell Road several seconds before the wind hit me.

It came with such a sudden force I was nearly knocked off the bike. During the initial effort to maintain control, the wind was so sudden and forceful that I was blown across the road. My helmet was pushed askew by the sudden force of the wind.

When the "big blow" hit, I was passing an open field that had recently been harvested of corn. Chaff/husks from the corn harvest knotted itself around my spokes and rear dérailleur, as I pedaled -downright, out of a movie "spooky".

I was glad to be on the Globe but wonder if the heavier recumbent would have been more manueverable.
