This morning I rode with the Swamp ROMP. Seven of us gathered at the Cafe - Wilson, Bob, Barbara, Erica, Larry, Daniel, and me. Daniel is very disabled and on a 3-wheeled recumbent, so Larry and Daniel planned to ride much slower and only ride to Furman and back. When we stopped at the Pocket Park at Sulphur Springs, we saw the bulk of the Final 50 riders go by on Sulphur Springs. After we left, Barbara was struggling to keep up, but she was riding on two nearly flat tires. When we stopped at Furman, Wilson used a can of CO2 to blow up her tires and it made a big difference in her riding. We also picked up Kathy at Furman. From there we rode to Williams’ Hardware for lunch. Williams’ Hardware is about to shut down as the two ladies that run it are retiring. I had a tuna salad wrap with potato salad and plenty of ice water. Kathy’s salad was way too much for her and she got a take home box and I put it in my pannier for her. She was surprised at how much room is in the pannier. We dropped Kathy and her salad at Furman then the rest of us rode back to the Cafe and wished each other a happy new year.
