One shock came as I went by a co-workers dairy farm. The farm had a sign out front and the farm field across the street also had an identical "for sale by auction" sign!
Around here a dairy farm operation is becoming an increasingly rare business. Farming in general is a very tough existence. Overhead is "sky-rocketing" and the return from milk prices is inadequate to pay the way!
We had better all get some experience growing something that can be eaten! Give some serious attention to planting some food for your family and yourself this year!!
The lucky among us have watched, bewildered, as our life savings have dwindled of late. The unlucky have been "wiped-out", and are in a cycle of increasing desperation, losing a job and/or subsequently losing everything else.
And you can't tell me "it's their own fault"! No! We are all victimized and manipulated by greedy "powers that be".
Enticed and coerced by greed, lured and victimized by a capitalistic system, drunk and inebriated by low overhead and high-profit. Uncaring about the other guy, for far too long. Soon we may know the other guy's plight more personal.
