Today I took the Trek and rode to Overbrook Church to meet Steve Y. Steve waned to ride out the trail then climb Paris Mountain. We rode across town and out the trail then rode to Altamont to ride over the mountain. We both set out a slow but steady pace to get to the top. The ride up was fairly uneventful. I was passed by a handful of riders and one guy flew passt me. Other than the speed demon, I chatted with the others as they passed by. Once at the top I pulled into the drive that goes to the summit. The property is closed, so I sat there to wait for Steve. I dirt biker pulled his bike in and talked for a while. Then Steve came up the hill, so the three of us chatted for a good bit. Then Ken pulled in on his scooter. He had a bag of strawberries, so Steve and I had a couple of strawberries while at the top. Ken had us pose for a picture at the parking place up there with the "No Parking" sign next to it. Then we headed down the Greenville side of the mountain. I kept touching my brakes so that I didn’t pick up too much speed. There was a terrible cross wind at the base of the mountain where you come off the 22% drop. I rode home with Steve so that I could get my 25 miles in. From his place I rode home on East North Street and worked my way through the East North Street/Pleasantburg Drive intersection.
