All I got in today was another low mileage ride. Second consecutive day with a sub-average ride. And another day gone in my "week -off", Spring recess.
The day's agenda was first a storm door installation, followed by a short ride around the city (Rochester), finishing with a get together with Ginny and Friends at Beale Street Bar and Grill.
Parking on South Avenue, right near the bar and grill was a "bike pole hitch", made of old bike parts, colorful and expressive.
Continuing with a description of the day:
After the removal of an old storm door, (including 30 minutes of trying to remove one well painted screw) I continued with step by step procedure, installing the new storm door.
I enjoy working on projects with well written step by step instructions. Although instructions, no matter how well written, always involve steps and procedures that assume some basic knowledge or understanding of the task at hand. Also, there always seems to be some unanticipated obstacle needing to be improvised, customized, or dealt with in some manner. Often a "one hour task" takes twice as long to complete! The whole storm door "replacement exercise" was an 8 hour effort (...experienced but fussy).
So there I was after eight hours, back aching from the storm door effort, it's 2:30PM. I had packed my bike (the Dahon), folded in the back cargo area of the Explorer. After unfolding the Dahon "Cadenza" I headed to one of the places where Brucew works, the library branch at Winton and Atlantic. I stopped in to say hello and show off my new ride, no Bruce there today.
Ginny's has been telling me about a new bike shop near the Library. Looking for the new bike shop, there it was in a large converted colonial style house, it was closed. Heading up Winton to Blossom, I turned to head toward University where Towner's Bike shop is located. Stopped in at Towner's and bought a kick stand and had it installed. Next I was off to Lee's house to show off the ride and see what was what. Lee was in fine form. I had a beer with Lee and his buddy Dave, chatted some trash, and headed back to the truck to change and rendezvous with Ginny for dinner.
