Today I took the Surly out to ride from the house. I rode to Cleveland Park, then skirted around the closed park and cut across downtown to get on the trail at Linky Stone Park. The trail was fairly crowded today. there were a lot of new walkers that are always a hazard to ride around. They tend to walk on the wrong side, don’t look where they’re going, wander back and forth across the trail, and make unexpected moves. It makes riding more exciting!! My lack of riding sure showed - my legs were pretty wimpy. I rode up the trail and turned around across from the creperie. I stopped at Furman to call the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to put in an order, but the ordering process was more than I wanted to deal with, so I passed on placing an order. I rode down the trail and ran into Steve S at the awkward bridge at Willard Street. We stopped and talked for a while. Steve is a nurse and is working with the Coronavirus patients. Apparently they are sending the Covid patients to North Greenville Hospital north of Travelers Rest and he is working there for now. When he left the phone rang and it was Heather with a question for me. With the Coronavirus situation her parents can’t come down for her wedding, so she wants me to give her away. After that I got off the trail at Hudson Street and cut across the north side of downtown to get home. My phone rang again when I turned off East North Street for the final half mile. One home I saw it was the doctor at St Mary’s with his daily update. My legs were pretty wimpy riding, but it was good to get in a ride.
