This was the 5th time I have participated in the 10 Parks Tour.
Owing to proximity, I generally modify my participation on this ride using my '-in law's home as a start/finish point. Having reached a 50+ mile point after lunch, and feeling a bit of stress in my wrists and elbows, it became obvious I was losing ability to not lag too far behind. I figured it was time to cut the last two or three climbs and focus on finishing the ride with a reasonable average speed.
I deviated off route at the turn for Seneca Park Zoo. By-passing the last 3 parks, and some of the River climbs as well as a typically broken glass area crossing the Genesee at Seneca Park. Choosing instead to re-route to St.Paul->Andrews St.->MainSt.->Indiana St.
It was a great ride! My longest ride this year. With my average speed showing improvement over previous effort... averaging 13.31mph for 62.1 mi;
Bruce exhibited his typical peerless ride leadership, and conducted the tour Sweep style. Fantastic seeing HandyHannah and her husband Larry as well as CarpenterDoug, Hndlebar and his Gal, along with some familiar RBC faces.
Previous "10 Parks" efforts:May 2007-> 63.75mi at 12.36mph;May 2009-> 66.17mi at 12.64mph;May 2010->63.78mi at 12.34mph;May 2011->37.8mi at 12.59mph;
