GFLBT Ovid ride faster than last year
A wonderful 53 mile tour Saturday, starting and finishing in Ovid. I was faster this year (13.04mph-vs12.09mph).

Leaving Ovid heading North on Rte 96, going first to Waterloo, then East to Senaca Falls, then on to Cayuga Lake, there a climb Southwest up and over to Senaca Lake and on to Sampson State Park before getting back to Ovid for a Roast Chicken meal. Figure 8 tour.

After the ride, on the drive back to Watkins Glen a deluge-torrent of rain washed the bike while it was securely strapped upright in the bed of my Sport Track.

With a headcold migrating into my lungs, as well as Sunday Morning's deluge rainfall, the wet roads and threat of more precipitation, Bruce and I opted to forgo the Sunday ride, which was not the typical Kueka Lake ride. The roadway was washed out on a section of the Kueka route. So we packed up early and headed home.

The GFLBT is a great weekend gathering. There are the many folks I've met and have become friends riding with over the past 5 years. In 2007 The G.F.L.B.tour hosted the BikeJournal reunion, the only BJ reunion I've ever attended. Over the past 5 years GFLBT has been a catalyst for making friends. There’s Augie the tour's Patriarch, Reg, Mona, Slantz the BJ webmaster(there in 2007), Karl, CarpenterDoug, Mike, Steve, Bruce and so many others. This year, not in attendance, I missed seeing Maggie and her New Jersey entourage, as well as the Canadian Sisters Cathy(past Hoola champ) and Karen.

Great people, great rides, great food and drink, raffle prizes too (I won a pair of Merino wool bike socks), this Family gathering of the Southern Tier Bike Club is my favorite tour!
