Back in the saddle on my Cruzbike; I had hoped to have the modifications complete but...What a great ride!
At least the Cruzbike is ride-able again... Expecting to get in a few miles tomorrow, crossing paths with the R2K Rally.
After months of planning and not yet accomplishing the desired change, I put the Cruzbike together and had a great ride. The goal with modification of the Cruzbike is to add climbing speed and versatility. It's getting there.
I upgraded the front/drive wheel to a 700c diameter. changed the rear tire to low rolling resistant Continental tire -the tire that came with the Cadenza. Big difference already!
Yet to do... add a triple crank/front dérailleur set-up. I have a new crank to go but no dérailleur. Haven't got a front brake to fit yet... On the towpath today: I chased down a hybrid rider who passed me while I was making tune-up adjustments. After a 30 second lead, I hopped back on Cruzbike and chased the "Rabbit". I estimate the guy was doing 12 mph when I passed him doing 18mph.
Maybe it can all be chalked up to riding Cruzbike after such a long break off it... Climbing Gordon Road hill with less effort than when on my upright bikes -feels so right.
Anyway it sure felt great taking cruzbike out for a spin!
168 consecutive cycling days;
... with 159.5 miles to reach this months goal!
