Baby knees withstood the ordeal without issue...
The perfect day for a perfect RARE Rally ride. The RARE Rally is Rochester Area Recumbent Enthusiasts annual ride from Hamlin Beach to Rochester and back. I seriously enjoy the opportunity to ride along with some of the most relaxed cycling enthusiasts in our area.
Starting from home, I covered the first 17 miles in a bout 1 hour. Wending my way through Parma and Greece, I stopped briefly at "Maragritaville" -no one was there. Proceeding along Edgemere and Beach Ave., I hooked up with RARE Folks in Charlotte. From there it was South along the Riverway trail and into Rochester's city central.
The lunch stop is always Dinosaur BBQ. I Sampled a good glass of IPA after Mike Brisson's testimonial of preference. Mike is one of the ride organizers, someone easy to chat-up. At the Dinosaur Larry and Jerry wanted to ride on through, making the loop back to the remote starting point in Charlotte.
I have ridden along with Jerry for a few miles in the past. We both live in Parma. I decided to tag along with Jerry and Larry because my route plan was to return home via the towpath to Adams Basin. So we rode together until the rally turn-off point where I continued along the towpath into Greece.
At Long Pond Road, I detoured over to my Aunt Lena and Uncle Tony's home for short visit. After the visit, I headed back to Ridgeway Ave. and hooked back onto the towpath at Henpeck Park. At Gillette Road I exited the towpath and returned home using the roads.
The knees are functioning perfectly! My Cruzbike was the only FWD Recumbent at the rally. I was given compliments for my bike's quiet drive train and for my climbing ability. Along the way I had some very good climbs including Pine Hill, Frisbee Hill, and the Riverway climb from Turning Point Park. The legs were hammering! It was a great day doing the RARE Rally!
